Hinckley Choral Union past performances have met with wide appreciation. It is with great joy that we can now restart after the Covid pandemic and all it has imposed on our activities.
Our last concert on 2 November 2019 started with seven of Karl Orff's settings of medieval poems about the fickleness of Fortune and the pleasures of life in "Carmina Burana"
The second work was Karl Jenkins' "The Armed Man", a Mass of Peace which draws on a number of religious texts from the Catholic Mass to the Islamic call to prayer and the Hindu MahabHarat.
The second half of the concert lightened the mood and included a selection of songs from Abba's works and Lloyd-Webbers' "Cats"
2019 Christmas celebrations in Hinckley started on 22 November with the switching on of the lights around the town centre. Our choir was invited to take part and the proceedings were broadcast on our local radio 107fm. The picture shows our conductor being interviewed for the occasion!
We sang a selection of traditional carols with a wonderful descant on "O Come All Ye Faithful" from our Sopranos!
